Legal versus symbolic
In many countries the legally binding ceremony requires residency days, translated documents and an appointment months ahead. Most couples marry legally at home and hold a symbolic ceremony abroad. Verify the requirements with the local registry, not with a venue.
Weather alternate, costed
Your wet-weather plan must be a booked and priced option, not an idea. Ask what it costs to trigger it and by when the decision has to be made.
Ask these before you pay a deposit
- Is a permit required for a ceremony on this beach, terrace or island, and who applies?
- What is the wet-weather alternative, what does it cost and when is the decision deadline?
- Is there a corkage, cake-cutting or external-supplier fee?
- What noise curfew applies, and what is the penalty for running past it?
